Our Story
All Colours. One Mission.
“Sub Rang” means all colours — a powerful name that celebrates the diversity of identities, stories, and struggles that make up Pakistan’s sexual and gender diverse groups (SGDGs). We believe each colour is a voice, and together, we paint a future rooted in dignity, pride, and justice.
How It All Began
Sub Rang Society (SRS) was born in 2016, built on courage, love, and the undeniable need for change. By 2018, we officially registered as a non-profit committed to advocating for the rights and visibility of Pakistan’s most marginalized communities — especially transgender, non-binary, and queer folks across the SGDGs spectrum.
Our team didn’t come from privilege. We came from lived experience — from being silenced, excluded, and misunderstood. But instead of backing down, we organized. We envisioned a world where SGDGs are not just surviving, but thriving — claiming space, rights, and joy.
The Reality We Face
Even today, SGDGs in Pakistan face immense barriers. From discrimination in schools, hospitals, and offices, to violence in public spaces and neglect in policy — we’re forced to fight battles on multiple fronts. Many from our community are pushed into poverty, informal work, and unsafe conditions — not by choice, but by rejection.
We’re also tired of being framed only as trauma. Our lives are so much more. We are artists, healers, leaders, and change-makers. Our resilience is revolutionary.
What We’re Doing About It
At Sub Rang Society, we’re not waiting for permission to exist — we’re building power from the ground up.
We:
- Empower SGDGs at the grassroots level through leadership development, rights education, and community organizing.
- Build safe spaces where people feel seen, supported, and free to be themselves.
- Advocate for inclusive laws, health services, housing, and employment free from stigma.
- Partner with allies across Pakistan and beyond to amplify our impact.
- Create cultural and policy shifts — so that dignity becomes the norm, not the exception.
We’re especially focused on young leaders, because they’re not just the future — they’re the now. Together, we’re challenging the system and reshaping narratives.
Our Dream
We dream of a Pakistan where no one has to hide who they are.
Where all identities are celebrated, not censored.
Where difference is a strength, not a sentence.
And where every SGDGs person can live, love, and lead without fear.
